Limitless is your potential. Magenifcent is your future.
Finding the right teacher training program to suit your needs can be challenging! Finances and scheduling typically top the list when concidering/comparing. It is important however to remember that all programs are different, and which program you invest your time and money into could have a vastly different effect on the experience and the teacher you may potentially become.
Currently and surprisingly, a governing body in the yoga world does not exist. This means that anyone could give themselves the title of “yoga instructor,” and anyone could offer a teacher training program…scary right? Consequently, we are seeing several organizations and individuals, doing just so.
The closest thing to a governing body that exsists, is The Yoga Alliance, either the Canadian or the International. Being affiliated with The Yoga Alliance ensures that a teacher training school adheres to certain standards, and that teacher training students are being taught relevant information in a methodical, structured way. The combination of curriculum and practice procedures, laid out by The Alliance, will most often produce safe, strong, educated, confident, yoga teachers.
Other important factors to consider are, how long the school has been operational. How long has the training staff been teaching yoga. How long has the training staff been practicing yoga. Does the training program have a nice mix of theory and anatomy and spirituality encompassed in the training?
Finally, it is important to also consider the texts that have been chosen for the course. There are some classic yoga texts that are vital to a 200 hour yoga teacher training course. If you aren’t sure what they are, it may be wise to do a tiny bit of research first. There are a couple of books so valuable to the lineage of yoga, that not studying them in an entry level (200hr) program would seem incomprehensible.
The question that you really need to ask yourself is….do I have enough information to make an educated decision on which training is best for me? If the answer happends to be no at this time, feel free to send us an email. No matter where you go to study, you will want to feel as though you have made the best possible choice for you.
We look forward to sharing this incredible journey with you.
